Thanks to Santi’s custom-made drysuits, Lisbet has been able to dive into her passion without compromise.

For Lisbet, the feeling of being underwater is liberating. “Diving gives me so much: feeling free—from using my wheelchair, no steps nor stairs underwater!” she says. In the water, she’s no longer bound by the physical challenges she faces on land. This sense of freedom is something that many take for granted, but for Lisbet, it’s a life-changing experience.

When Lisbet began her diving journey, she quickly realized that standard equipment wouldn’t suffice. Her E.Motion Plus drysuit was reinforced at the bottom to prevent wear from sitting at the water’s edge, and her suit’s flood line and anti-slip steps were thoughtfully designed for her needs. 

Lisbet’s Santi dealer (coordinated by Joost and Bram from ScubaRepair BV), who is also an experienced diver, took the time to understand her requirements firsthand, ensuring that every detail of her drysuit was tailored to perfection. “I could buddy up with them so he could see firsthand how dive equipment could support me and my disability more. Diving in Comfort, Even in the Cold 

Diving in Belgium often means facing cold, dark quarries, where the sun isn’t always shining. To tackle these challenging conditions, Lisbet sought out a drysuit that could keep her warm and comfortable. With the help of experts at Scuba-united, she was fitted for a modified E.Motion+ drysuit. The suit included innovative features like anti-slip socks instead of fins, which were not practical for her. 

“My Santi immediately worked! I felt like a fish in the water,” she says. The drysuit not only improved her trim in the water but also helped relax her back, allowing her to dive with greater ease and comfort. For Lisbet, the difference was night and day compared to her previous experiences. 

Independence and Empowerment 

Getting in and out of a drysuit can be a challenge for anyone, but for Lisbet, it’s a critical part of maintaining her independence. “Getting in and out of my Santi is so easy. It gives me independence when I need it most,” Lisbet shares. Once she’s suited up, her diving buddies are there to assist, just as they do for each other. This sense of camaraderie and mutual support is what makes the diving community so special. 

Inspiring Others 

Lisbet’s journey doesn’t just stop at her own dives; she’s also committed to helping others. She assists in teaching guides for divers with disabilities or other special needs, both in swimming pools and open water.
